I worked on this painting for a couple of sessions and then put it aside for a while thinking I should add more to it before calling it finished. In the meantime, whoever saw it loved it just as it was.  I took their advice and called it quits....

I'm not sure what you are seeing on your monitor...the colors in the actual painting might be a little richer.  It looks a bit lighter than it actually is on my screen.  I hesitate to change it at this point though. I've found that my paintings appear darker on some PC computers. I have a Mac...

I thought I'd finished this painting but something about it was still nagging at me, although, I wasn't sure what to change or add. I brought it back into my studio, enhanced some of the lighter areas and added the stars and planets on the lower left and upper right. I really like it now.

Here is another painting from my imagination. Once again, I just began putting color down on the canvas and moving it around until something pleasing developed. I've called another painting 'Cosmic Light' in the past so I added the number '1' after the title here. It's not too late to change it so if anyone wants to offer another option for a title, please feel free to email me.

I have been experimenting with a variety of surfaces for these smaller paintings. Each surface provides a new experience and different effect. This is a smooth surface which simulates canvas. Colors blended quite easily. This painting was completed fairly rapidly...only one sitting which is not usual for me...great when it happens though. My inspiration was, once again, my imagination. I painted this piece a few years ago from my imagination. It's always such a surprise when I have nothing in mind and just begin to apply paint to canvas. By now you should have a fair picture of the variety of artwork I create...there's much more to come that is radically different than what I've posted so far...if I can figure a way to paint them on these small canvases. Over the years it's been suggested that I choose one
style of painting and stay with it. I can't conceive of doing that. It's not in my nature. I follow my spirit and intuition wherever they may lead.

Painting Solar Angel was a new experience for me. It is the first time I've
painted on a board with acrylic. I'm pleased with the outcome. The turquoise background might appear a bit differently on your monitor. It is actually more of a rich teal color but my camera was not cooperating. I've included a framed version to illustrate how it might look framed.

I rarely stay home all day...restless spirit.
This was one of those days though. It's been snowing and sleeting here in upstate New York since early this morning. I put some good time in at the easel and I'm happy. "Comet" was very enjoyable to create. Cosmic landscapes are the most natural subjects for me to paint. When I'm quiet and close my eyes...in that darkness...I feel myself out in space among the celestial bodies.

The Cosmic Guardian was painted from my imagination. She is a representation of the great protective, loving presence of the infinite universe.I never know what the next painting will be... not great on planning things. I follow my intuition most of the time. In some ways I am more comfortable painting representational pieces; still life and landscapes from life, but the real adventure is when I begin to paint spontaneously as I did here.
Painting smaller pieces is a challenge. I am accustomed to painting larger with more freedom of movement. We'll see where it goes from here each day.
