Another angel born from my imagination today. Once again, I thought I'd finished this painting, put it aside for a little while, but wasn't quite comfortable. I brought it back to the easel, defined the rocks a bit more, added brighter white to the angel and added the planets. Now I'm very happy with it. Now, as you are viewing this piece, do you realize that you are viewing something that has never existed on this planet before? One of a kind...That's the beauty and adventure in painting...especially from one's inner spirit...

"The Path" is the other piece I painted plein air at the Saratoga Battlefield near Saratoga Springs, NY. Initially, I didn't like it. It started to get dark and I was tired as I was painting. A few days later I looked at it through fresh eyes and was pleased with the outcome.

The photo here looks a little darker and a bit bluer than the actual painting on my monitor. I was at the Apple Store for a tutoring session today and changed the settings on my monitor to comply with my Epson printer. My monitor took on a bluer tone. Each monitor displays color differently anyway so there's never a guarantee that what you see is actually what is...

This lone tree was painted plein air at the Saratoga Battlefield. I am ambivalent about plein air painting. There's certainly the exciting spontaneity that is natural with painting outdoors (at least for me) but...packing up and dragging all my equipment to a location is a real drag...and exhausting. Hence, I don't do much of it. I do like how this painting turned out though. I'll post another I did at a nearby location in the battlefield next.
