This ultra serene original oil painting was created from a photograph my daughter, Yvonne, shot along the famous Million Dollar Beach in Lake George, NY. As soon as I saw her photo, I knew I had to paint it.

Photo above does not do the painting justice at all! It is much more beautiful in person.

I am looking forward to paint Lake George again this Saturday. I was invited to join the Adirondack Pastel Society in a Plein Air painting day at the beautiful Wiawaka Center For Women. Haven't decided whether I will bring my acrylic or my oil paints. I will keep you posted...

"LAKESIDE" was painted plein air on a very beautiful summer morning on the shores of Lake George in upstate NY. I arrived at the site on Million Dollar Beach at 8 am. Everything was changing rapidly...clouds, light, wind, etc. It was challenging but I am happy with the result.

This is the first painting I completed during the plein air workshop with Harry Orlyk a little under two weeks ago. I thoroughly enjoy the spontaneity and intense observation required with painting outdoors. Below is a photo from the top of the hill that includes the portion of the landscape I decided to paint....and the picture I took of the painting on my easel. 

If all goes as planned tomorrow, I will be treking out with my painting buddy, Debbie,  to paint more of the early Autumn landscape around these parts...not sure where yet....
