DETAILS

STORMY is an original oil painting created from my imagination. It seemed to paint itself. I am never quite sure how a painting is going to develop or how it will complete. When I surrender to the process, the whole experience usually flows without too much struggle. Yes, surprised??? Painting is often a great struggle...It is a struggle to achieve harmony. When that finally happens, it is truly a healing experience.

INCIDENTALLY, I will be presenting  PAINTING FROM "THE ZONE"....my intuitive painting workshop the weekend of January 19/20. Click the link just above for details. I began painting "A Peaceful View" outdoors at the edge of Saratoga Lake in Saratoga Springs, NY. It began to get a bit too cold for me to continue so I finished it up in my nice warm studio. 

This was a particularly difficult painting to photograph correctly. It almost matches the original (on my monitor) but not quite. The white areas in the clouds are a bit whiter than what appears in this photo.

 This painting, in particular, is much nicer in person. I've photographed this painting with my regular camera, my iphone camera and scanned it as well. The canvas texture looks much coarser than it actually is with all the photos....oh well.

I enjoy painting these miniature works. They are created from my imagination and bring forth images that continue to surprise me when the piece is completed....ah...the mystery of creative endeavor...

The original painting, "Evidence Of Angels" was an original oil painting on canvas and sold some time ago. It was one of those spontaneous, intuitive creations I am widely known for. 

I had painted everything except the angels initially and thought it might be finished as it was. I kept looking at it....felt it needed something else.....picked up my brush.....held my breath....and quickly painted in the two angels descending from the heavens. 

I'm happy to make "Evidence Of Angels"  available as a fine art print for others to enjoy.

"Sacred Mountains" is an older painting that has been hiding out in my studio for quite some time. It is another example of 'intuitive/spontaneous' creation. What I mean by that is when I approach the canvas, I don't have anything specific in mind to paint and just start by dipping my brush in the first color that I am attracted to and begin to put strokes down. I c ontinue in this way until the painting begins to reveal itself and I work it from there. It is a fascinating experience which is always full of surprises.

Sacred Mountains is truly much more beautiful in person. The brushtrokes are just not visible in photos....

My spirit feels lifted when I view this painting. How do you feel?

"Low Down Sun" began as a plein air painting somewhere in the vicinity of Rock City Falls in upstate NY. I went painting with my friend Debbie who chose the location which I wasn't particularly fond of. I had a difficult time deciding on which view to choose for my painting and came to the conclusion there wasn't anything there I really wanted to paint other than the clouds in the sky which I did on location. It was just one of those restless episodes I go through on occasion which make it a real chore to discipline myself and focus. The trees were painted in my studio. I am happy with the result....

I began this painting outdoors sitting at the edge of Saratoga Lake in Saratoga Springs, NY. It began to get a bit too cold for me so I brought it home....waited quite a while....and just finished putting the final touches on it from memory and imagination. 

The photo does not do this painting justice. It was difficult to photograph. The white areas of the clouds are a bit whiter but this is the best I could do. The painting is more beautiful in person...but that's usually the case...

"Tempest" Wish I could find the trick that would display the photos of these miniatures accurately. I scan them. Scanning is the most accurate way to capture color and other properties, but not with these little gems. The originals are much more beautiful. Most of these miniatures have been created from my imagination. I might try my hand at painting larger versions of them at some point...

I am very happy with this painting. It is displayed in my home office and I love looking at it when I am in there. It brings me back to the feeling of my spirit being uplifted when I was painting it.

The reason I titled this piece "Healing Light" is because I painted it on what I consider sacred ground...the beautiful grounds at Christ The King Spiritual Life Center in Greenwich, NY. Many healings have taken place here.

Well, folks, after I uploaded the photo of "Cosmic Light" I sat here trying to think of something to say about it....and I hit a blank wall. So, I thought I'd get some help from good old Google. I typed in Cosmic Light and discovered the Cosmic Light shows at the Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City, Utah. "Healing Light" was painted on the helicopter pad at "Christ The King Healing Center"  in Greenwich, NY. My original intention was to paint a view of the beautiful landscape from this vantage point. After I initially toned my canvas with light red, I found it difficult to focus on the landscape. I decided to give my spirit free reign and this is the result. I am certain this painting is imbued with healing energy having been painted on this very special sacred ground.

"Secret Garden" is the last miniature painting I've completed in this series. Ran out of small canvas and just purchased more today. I've been enjoying painting this series...instant gratification...a finished painting in a relatively short amount of time. Here's a full red moon instead of the full blue moon shining up there at the moment. I might go into my studio now and paint a blue moon...we'll see. This painting, in particular, is much nicer in person. Once again, in scanning it,  the texture of the canvas appears much more prominent than it actually is.

"Landscape" is the second in the series of ten (so far) miniature paintings I have recently completed. The inspiration for this painting was a scene along Saratoga Lake in Saratoga Springs, NY...my present home town. This piece truly looks much more beautiful in person. For some strange reason, these smaller paintings do not photograph as well as the larger ones and the texture of the canvas is much rougher than it actually appears in the painting. Oh well...

If I had a huge space and lived in a large city with a lot of traffic I would probably be painting these celestial pieces much much larger. I am open, though, to considering commissioned pieces in larger formats. Just this moment, as I was writing this, I thought of painting a few larger ones without stretching them on stretcher strips so they could be stored easily and shipped in a tube to keep shipping costs down when sold...hhmmm...good idea, Marina....You might see a few of these at some point soon...hhmmm....
