"MOONGLOW" by Marina Petro
"Moonglow"
3x3 inches, Original oil painting on gallery wrapped stretched canvas w/easel
$39 + $5 shipping + handling
This baby gave me such a difficult time to photograph and such a joy to paint. It truly looks better in 'person?' Maybe someday I'll break out the manual to my camera and actually read it. Might make things a bit easier. I have been enjoying painting these tiny 3x3 inch paintings. I think I have one canvas left in this size and will order more. I'm working on a small floral painting now. I was in awe of the cloud formations again today. Huge beautiful white clouds so there will probably be another cloud painting coming soon too. I feel like I'm really in my 'element' when I'm painting clouds...always from memory or imagination....

"ALIEN FLOWERS" by Marina Petro
"Alien Flowers"
5x7 inch acrylic on gessobord
Purchase at ebay here for $99 + shipping
This was a painting I completed early on in my adventure with daily painting. It was painted from a photograph my brother took and edited in Photoshop. I'm posting it just to keep in touch because I haven't been able to get into my studio all weekend. My computer went through a total hard drive failure and I've traveled back and forth to the Apple Store in Albany,NY for the past three days. I've finally gotten my printer to print while hooked to my computer and now I am about to attempt to figure out how to get it to print wirelessly again and reinstall some software. Fortunately, I had almost everything backed up.
I've finally completed the pumpkin painting and if I find the time to photograph it tomorrow I will post it. I am very happy with it and have already received some great feedback from my subscribers regarding the unfinished version.
Hope to visit with you again real soon...

"PUMPKIN" In Progress by Marina Petro
PUMPKIN -painting in progress
16x20 Oil on stretched canvas
Thought I'd post what I have been currently working on. I took a photo of the pumpkin in an amazing pumpkin patch at a garage sale I stopped at last Fall. The colors in the actual painting are probably a little more saturated. Colors sometimes diminish when a photo's resolution is lowered for internet use. I don't remember what the actual color of the leaves were in the garden, but I like the way they came out lavender in the photo. Makes it very interesting, at least for me. Each painting holds it's own unique challenge and I always learn something new. The challenge with this is the texture of the leaves. I'm heading into my studio now to work on it again. Hopefully for the last time.

"GREEN PEAR" by Marina Petro
"Green Pear"
3x3 inch
Oil on gallery wrapped canvas painted around all sides.
Sold
These little 3x3 inch paintings are fun to do, especially when my days have been busy. I found this pear with it's leaf still attached and carefully brought it home along with two others. We'll see how the others hold up until I'm ready to paint/or eat them...

Original Oil Painting on gallery wrapped canvas

The actual painting looks better in real life. I've been experimenting with painting on smaller canvas. It's been interesting. I have a few more I'll be posting in the coming days. They are all painted around the sides and look just lovely sitting on the easel. I will be listing this piece on ebay, probably within a week or so.
I visit other artist's websites and blogs fairly often. It appears most successful ones sustain a relative amount of consistency, at least in their style of painting. It seems like it would be a welcomed relief if I were more consistent with style and subject matter...it drives me crazy but it's still impossible for me to choose one, or even two and stay with those. I understand that this is not desirable in the art industry. What do you think? The most difficult part is having two or three paintings in progress with other ideas coming in constantly and limited time to explore and paint them all. Whew!

"SERPENT FIRE" by Marina Petro
"Serpent Fire"
22" x 28" Oil on Canvas
NFS yet
I got home a bit tired today after running a few errands and taking a beautiful walk around Congress Park. I was ready for a nap. My to do list included installing Photoshop Elements 6 to use with my new Apple Leopard operating system, take a nap, photograph my new paintings to post, and then finally get into my studio and paint. Decided to install the software first and...ended up on the phone for 3 1/2 + hours with technical support. What a nightmare! I should be sleeping now after all that but decided to post a painting I (almost) completed a while back which expresses my mood this evening.
Serpent Fire has been hanging around my studio for a couple of years, waiting for me to 'fix' a few areas and then make it available. I painted this dragon VERY spontaneously one day after a very upsetting and sudden event which provoked the full extent of my protective maternal instincts. Painting helped me to express and resolve the wild reactive emotions of the moment.
If anyone is interested in this piece, either the original or a print, email me and we can discuss the details. I need someone to stroke my head and comfort me now...
