Cameras just cannot capture the subtleties of artwork. This one looks much better 'in person.' I have always been fascinated by the stark black and white patterned zebra. 

The zebra is said to represent individuality, grace, beauty, honesty and freedom. It is a power animal. The spiritual meaning behind the stripes has to do with the integration of opposites, thus enabling us to see the deeper truth....

I struggled trying to come up with a good title for this painting until ... all of a sudden...the pear reminded me of a sunny-side up egg.

Here is the third and last of the little paintings I discovered tucked away and not posted. It is another attempt to paint 'fast and loose.' Perhaps I should live my life faster and looser too? Well, maybe not the faster, come to think about it. I'm speedy enough. 'Looser' might be more interesting. At the moment, I have a non-loose large still life painting on the easel crying to be finished. I've been distracted with getting paintings and prints prepared for Frankie Flores Gallery, spring clean up and taking care of little details around the house to keep it up to snuff while it is on the market for sale...
.....and the huge project of re-doing the 'Available Paintings' section at my website.

I am thoroughly enjoying painting these larger still life pieces. The fabric I used to showcase the orange was a rare find. It hasn't been easy finding fabric patterns I am attracted to of late. This piece is getting quite a bit of attention at my studio in Saratoga.

Can you see this piece brightening up your kitchen or dining room? I thoroughly enjoy painting these bold and bright still life paintings. I've found a few new beautiful fabrics and will be setting up new paintings soon. I'm still working on one of my large still life pieces and have another drying which I will post soon.  

I am still trying to orchestrate my time and energy between my studio in town and my studio at home. It's coming down to painting large still life pieces at the studio in town and my other styles at the home studio...at least for the time being. I'm sure the better weather will warrant another rhythm and I'll go with the flow as things unfold. I suspect I'll be spending more time in town...

I moved my little models around and around until the shadows appeared as pictured and decided to give them a rest while I painted them...and before they met their fate of being eaten. They were delicious. The little apple was a genuine 'find' with the short thick stem and multiple leaves. I'm always so happy when I find leaves on fruit...

I think the overhead perspective on this painting is interesting. The fabric backdrop is one of my favorites and I'm sure I'll be using it again. I can get compulsive and need to discipline myself to wait a while so things don't get redundant.

I just brought this painting home from an exhibit and thought I'd post it. The gourds, vegetables and apples are in great abundance here in upstate New York. It is such colorful time of the year. I painted this piece a while ago when I was still painting large still lifes. I've been primarily focusing on smaller works since getting on board with the daily painters and now I'm curious about what I'd put together for a new larger still life. Wish there were 5 of me. I'd be able to paint everything I get excited about...

The pear in this painting really glows. What a happy discovery that was when I applied the light red to each side. I had my Opening Reception at House of Creative Soul last night. It was wonderful! It is the most beautiful gallery space in Saratoga Springs. I would have had pictures today, but discovered that the batteries in my camera were dead. One of my daughters brought her camera and I'll have to wait until she gets the pictures to me.

The stem, leaves and shadow are my favorite parts of this painting. It's unusual to find fruit around here with longer stems and leaves attached. It's even harder to get them home intact. More than once I've crazy glued the leaves back on...I will be making a trip to the apple orchard a few miles from here to find some new little models. I'm hoping they might have a pear or peach tree too...

This is the first mango I've ever painted. I've completed quite a few paintings depicting one or two fruits or vegetables on these 6x6 inch panels. I recently ordered and received a bunch of 6x6 gold plein air frames (3" wide) These paintings look simply beautiful framed. Up until now, it's been difficult to find frames for this size panel. Now that I can dress them up, I plan to begin exhibiting them. I'm sure they will appreciate seeing what the larger world outside my studio looks like.
