"CLOUDS" (in progress) Marina Petro
"Clouds" (in progress)
8x10 oil on gallery wrap canvas
When I thought I might have finished this painting, I asked Vic, my sweetheart and best critic, for his opinion. When I'm working on a painting, I'm usually too close to it to 'see' what might need adjustment to make it better. He points out things that I don't see and his observations are very helpful. I can usually tell what he thinks about a painting with his initial response. With this one, there was a blank look for at least 7 seconds and then he said "What is it?" I stared back for about 7 seconds, said 'clouds' and then we both burst out laughing. Oh well, back to the studio...but, I thought I'd take a picture and post it anyway. The picture you are seeing actually looks better somehow than it does in real life. That's not usually the case, though. What do you think?
Daily Quotation: "The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance."
