This painting was a bit of a challenge...actually, many of them are. When there is a considerable amount of black and white in a painting such as this, I have to wait a few days in between sessions for each of these slow drying colors to set enough to paint over them.

On another note....Did you know the hibiscus flower can universally mean that it is a nice summer? In Europe, during the Victorian era and up to today, the meaning of the hibiscus flower is "delicate beauty." It is the state flower of Hawaii and generally given to visiting state officials. It's symbolizes Old Royalty and is a flower that brings power and respect. In Japan, it's meaning is "gentle."

I hope this painting speaks for itself because I am in one of my quiet moods and don't have much to say at the moment. I am so enjoying painting these miniature creations, though. Into the studio now to see what else I will do...have no idea, other than it will be small for sure...

Another beautiful background fabric 'find' to showcase this red pear. This painting was a bit complex and took several sessions to complete and  I am very happy with the result.
