Notice how this painting affects you. Take a moment and 'get into' the painting. What was your first reaction when you opened this email? The colors in this piece are bright, cheerful, energizing but also contain the primary colors that are considered 'healing colors.' Very briefly, green represents healing and prosperity, yellow for awakening the intellect and energy, blue for spirituality and serenity, red and orange for energy and stimulation.

It affects me by immediately lifting my spirit and bringing a feeling of joy and anticipation...I do love this painting.

Today's Quotation: Try to be inspired by something every day. Try to inspire at least one person every day.

Another beautiful background fabric 'find' to showcase this red pear. This painting was a bit complex and took several sessions to complete and  I am very happy with the result.

Today's Quotation:  "Truly, it is in the darkness that one finds the light, so when we are in sorrow, then this light is nearest of all to us."

I was very happy to find this beautiful fabric to use as the backdrop for my fruit. I will be using it again and again in more paintings.  I am not happy with the title I finally chose. Just couldn't come up with anything more interesting. If you'd like to email me with what you would consider a 'better' title for this piece, I might consider using it....

Today's Quotation:  " A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be.

I fell in love with the fabric my little pear model is posed on. There will be more paintings using it to be created...at some point.
A few of my paintings have been featured at Shelley Meyerhoff's blog, The Underground Ferris Wheel...Thank you Shelley!

The hibiscus flower can universally mean that it is a nice summer? In Europe, during the Victorian era and up to today, the meaning of the hibiscus flower is "delicate beauty." It is the state flower of Hawaii and generally given to visiting state officials. It's symbolizes Old Royalty and is a flower that brings power and respect. In Japan, it's meaning is "gentle."

Today's Quotation: "If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate." Eight year old child...

This was a busy day so I am re-posting this painting.  I was at the Apple Computer Store by 9am for a 2 hour session with my trusty laptop and iPad. Next stop was picking up my 16 year old granddaughter, Dominique, and let her practice driving to Clifton Park where I dropped off some paintings for an upcoming exhibit at The Jonesville Country Store-July/August. Next stop was Fortunes Restaurant (included in the link just above) to check out the space again and decide which paintings I will exhibit there for my August/September show...I'm tired...

This painting was quite the challenge! It took several sessions to complete. When there is a considerable amount of white and black in a painting such as this, I have to wait a couple of days in between sessions for each of these slow drying colors to set enough to paint over or into them.

Did you know the hibiscus flower can universally mean that it is a nice summer? In Europe, during the Victorian era and up to today, the meaning of the hibiscus flower is "delicate beauty." It is the state flower of Hawaii and generally given to visiting state officials. It's symbolizes Old Royalty and is a flower that brings power and respect. In Japan, it's meaning is "gentle."

I''ve been caring for a hibiscus tree on my sun porch for about 14 years now. It blooms often with the most beautiful bright red flowers. There are three other perennial hibuscus bushes planted next to my deck. They flower each August with blossoms that are 12 inches or more in diameter. A glorious sight I look forward to each year.
Today's Quotation:" Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak."
