These ink paintings were such a pleasant surprise! 

I created them a while back with India ink. Once again, I began with nothing in mind and just let the paint sort of direct me through completion. It was exciting to say the least. I’ve given many of them as gifts. Loved the look of surprise and joy on the recipients faces!

"MOONSCAPE" is one of my recent favorites. It began as a plein air painting of Saratoga Lake in Saratoga Springs, NY. When I brought it back to my studio I didn't particularly love it so I began painting spontaneously and this is the resulting piece which I am very happy with. Can you see the suggestion of angels in the sky?

My supplier is not carrying them anymore and I didn't purchase enough to keep them as an ongoing item which was my intention...oh well.

This cheerful painting was created plein air (outdoors) during a Plein Air Festival this weekend in the Village Of Round Lake in upstate, New York. It was a beautiful end-of-summer day. I was painting in front of a home with the most beautiful display of flowers in town! Lucky me to have found it.

I experimented with acrylic paint for this piece and I'm very happy with the result!

"Glowing Garden" was painted with brush and palette knife. The palette knife added very nice texture and another type of spontaneous expression. There is less control with the knife. It's been  an interesting excursion in expanding my creative direction since I've been experimenting with the knife with both oil and acrylic paints.

The flowers on my table in the photo with my painting gear were presented to me that afternoon by the man who plants all the beautiful floral displays throughout the park - he is truly an artist as well! This year's displays are the best ever.
