I painted this piece from a still life set up when I was auditing a studio painting class, once upon a time, many years ago, at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. It has been 'hiding' in my studio...has never been exhibited anywhere. I think it could be considered 'vintage' at this point.
Ask any artist and you will probably learn that most of us have a few paintings like this that just hide out for one reason or another. At the moment, I haven't been painting as much as I'd like to and scouring the house for paintings that I can post. I've sold more than I've painted (which is wonderful), but..... It has been a challenging year...which was not so wonderful....
I have been painting my recent still life works in a 'tighter' style recently, but seeing the large, spontaneous brushtrokes in this painting reminded me of how much I enjoy painting looser...
