Star Birth was painted on a very smooth canvas textured board. It felt like I was painting on silk. Very pleasant experience. This piece has a notch on the back which enables it to be hung with a small nail, eliminating the need for a frame.

I planted phase two in my garden today...a variety of sunflower seeds, morning glories by the arbor, one zuchinni plant, one tomato plant, basil, marigolds, giant snapdragons. I've only planted one zuchinni and tomato because I'd rather have flowers at this point. I talked about painting a zuchinni the other day and will do so from my own crop...unless an irresistibly interesting one calls to me from the vegetable bin at the supermarket...what do you think the chances of that are? Oh, God, someone please stop me...

There is something so utterly freeing when a spontaneous painting from my imagination is in process...and better yet, when I like the result.

I am a fairly organized person but my studio has been looking like a bomb hit it. The last time I cleaned it up was for my annual studio sale with the failed promise to myself that I would keep it looking spanking clean and organized. It got to the point this week where I couldn't stand it any more. I took a trip to Home Depot earlier today and bought two nifty storage cabinets with 4 drawers in each...roomy.

I wasn't sure what this painting was going to be. I began to paint...had the sun in mind but as I let go to more spontaneity it ended up a sunflower. I enjoyed the freedom of letting go.
