This ultra serene original oil painting was created from a photograph my daughter, Yvonne, shot along the famous Million Dollar Beach in Lake George, NY. As soon as I saw her photo, I knew I had to paint it.

Photo above does not do the painting justice at all! It is much more beautiful in person.

I am looking forward to paint Lake George again this Saturday. I was invited to join the Adirondack Pastel Society in a Plein Air painting day at the beautiful Wiawaka Center For Women. Haven't decided whether I will bring my acrylic or my oil paints. I will keep you posted...

"LAKESIDE" was painted plein air on a very beautiful summer morning on the shores of Lake George in upstate NY. I arrived at the site on Million Dollar Beach at 8 am. Everything was changing rapidly...clouds, light, wind, etc. It was challenging but I am happy with the result.

THE HAPPY GARDEN  was created plein air at the entrance to the famous Victoria Pool  

at Saratoga State Park in Saratoga Springs, NY. - my current and very beautiful home town! 

The flowers on my table in the photo with my painting gear were presented to me that afternoon by the man who plants all the beautiful floral displays throughout the park - he is truly an artist as well! This year's displays are the best ever.

As I was finishing up this painting, a woman passed by and loudly exclaimed how HAPPY this painting made her feel.....hence.....it's name!

Here is another original angel oil painting created from my imagination. I hadn't intended to paint an angel. It seemed to paint itself at the last minute. I painted most of the painting but felt it needed something more. In an instant, the impression of an angel appeared...and here she is...ready to bring blessings to you and your home.

This light filled piece was completed about a week ago. I do love painting 'out of my head' most of the time. The paintings seem to flow more easily and are usually very nice surprises.

This  painting was quite the challenge! It took several sessions to complete. When there is a considerable amount of white and black in a painting such as this, I have to wait a couple of days between sessions for each of these slow drying colors to set enough to paint over or into them.

Did you know the hibiscus flower can universally mean that it is a nice summer? In Europe, during the Victorian era and up to today, the meaning of the hibiscus flower is "delicate beauty." It is the state flower of Hawaii and generally given to visiting state officials. It's symbolizes Old Royalty and is a flower that brings power and respect. In Japan, it's meaning is "gentle."

I love painting these large still life pieces...cheers me up to see them completed. Part of the enjoyment is in searching for and discovering the beautiful fabrics to pose the fruits and vegetables on for the painting. I'm fussy and it is not easy for me to find fabrics I love enough to want to buy. 

Painting these still lifes are so far removed from how I paint my visionary/intuitive garden, angel and celestial paintings. Still life works provide me with a structure to refer to whereas the intuitive, spontaneous work has no structure and I never know what is going to manifest.

Did you notice the term "Healing Art" in the title of this mailing? Wonder what I mean by that? OK...take a slow and gentle deep breath and move your awareness into "Approaching Eden". Imagine you are actually in this beautiful serene landscape. Notice how you feel now. 

This painting contains the primary colors that are considered 'healing colors' along with the serenity of the scene depicted. I bet that if you were hooked up to a biofeedback contraption while you viewed this painting, it would most likely indicate your consciousness changed, stress levels lowered, as well as blood pressure. 

Actually many hospitals are now getting pretty savvy with regard to the healing impact images and especially original art has on their patients. Original art because it contains the full impact of the artist' energy and intention. My intention when painting is that the viewer will benefit and be uplifted in some way....that's all...

Here is another painting from my imagination. With this one, I began by using burnt umber and applying the paint very quickly and fairly thin. At first, and as usual, I kept my 'mind' out of it and allowed the action of brain to hand to paint to canvas lead me. After a while, I began to 'see' structures that looked like buildings but when I started putting the lighter paint on they became mountains...always an adventure and surprise when I paint in this fashion....try it sometime...

I love the rich deep color of plums. Did you know that plums are a member of the rose family? When dried, they are referred to as prunes, which are helpful for regulating digestion. Recently in the United States, prune marketers have begun to refer to prunes as 'dried plums' due to the negative connotation  of the elderly dealing with constipation...just a bit of trivia here...

The fabric background used here was a lucky find. I've got to leave town to find any decent fabric for my paintings. We used to have a few fabric shops in Saratoga Springs, but they disappeared when the local mall was expanded.

I have had experiences, in dreams and light meditative states, of being engulfed in the most beautiful light that permeated every fiber of my being. When these experiences took place, they were in conjunction with a feeling of pure love that I regrettably haven't been able to duplicate in my ordinary life. I wish I could stay in that state forever. It contains everything and is pure bliss. As much as I'd try to hold on to the experience, it would dim as ongoing life galloped on and on and on. Nothing particularly eventful happened prior to these experiences to catalyze them...just life as it is and was at the time. My wish for all of you is to experience this light...you will then know what pure love is...

Painting this piece was a bit easier than I thought it would be. The areas I anticipated might be problematic weren't. Painting these still life and more realistic pieces are truly an exercise in using both the analytical and intuitive faculties of the brain...a lot of the analytical though. The photo here does not do this piece justice. It was difficult to capture the exact colors with my camera...not sure why, but you get the idea. It really glows in person.

This painting was created from a photograph I took one brisk winter morning driving along the country roads toward Schuylerville, NY. The photograph doesn't show the nuances of color, especially in the sky and the trees. The trees in the foreground are a rich dark green/violet. Every once in a while I get really lucky with capturing landscapes or other subjects I want to paint.  Often enough, though, I will see a once in a lifetime scene and realize I forgot to take my camera with me.
