This is one of my favorite smaller paintings. I thought it was going to be fairly easy to paint, however, it turned out to be quite difficult. As I look at it now, I am considering painting a much larger version in a square format...hhmm...Often the larger paintings are easier. I am presently working on a large 20 x 20 still life with plums and beautiful lillies...perhaps when that one is finished....

Isn't this a real mood lifter? I chose one of my favorite fabrics to use for the backdrop for the fruit. I have a tendency to be relatively compulsive and would be very happy to keep using this fabric over and over and over again until I 'get it out of my system.'  But, for the sake of variety, I don't.

Isn't this the perfect fabric to compliment the citrus fruits? I painted another piece similar to this that I will post tomorrow or the next day. They look great together.

I am very happy with this painting...although, it was one of the more difficult pieces to paint! The background fabric I used was a real 'find'. There will certainly be more paintings to come with it...possibly larger...
