"Psychedelic Lemons" is the second painting I've created using this wonderful, colorful fabric in the background. Here is it's counterpart, "Psychedelic Pear" ... They look fantastic together and will brighten up any room. It was a good choice to paint this one on these cold, gray and raw winter days in the solitude of my studio.

Today's Quotation:  "Painting requires the bravery of solitude. Painting requires disciplined labor. To be a painter is to search the world with a benevolent eye for every subtle beauty that the infinite world offers."

Can you imagine this striking painting in your dining area? The background for this piece is a sheet of decorative paper I found at my local craft store. I saw it and immediately thought ...what a wonderful painting some bright yellow lemons placed on it would make.

I originally painted this piece in a small 6"x 6" format which sold fairly quickly. I liked it so much and decided to paint a much larger version.

Today's Quotation: "A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul."

Lemon-Oil Painting-Marina Petro

Artist~Marina Petro, Saratoga Springs, NY USA
"Lemon"
6x8
Original still life oil painting on archival Raymar canvas panel
Purchase securely at my ETSY SHOP or EMAIL me for other purchasing options.

I was so happy to find actual fresh lemon leaves at our local florist to use with this painting. Here in the northeast, we never have the opportunity to purchase lemons or most other fruit with their leaves still attached. I love lemons and use fresh lemon juice on many foods. Poached eggs with lemon and pepper is delicious...at least for me.

Did you know that the lemon is considered a symbol of longevity, purification, love, and friendship? Here's a very interesting article by Liz Rizzo, "Have You Hugged Your Lemon Today?" which has just about everything you'd want to know about lemons, including symbolism in art, healing remedies, and home remedies and recipes.

Today's Quotation: "I do my best work and have the most fun when I'm not sure exactly where I'm heading. The process of discovery is exhilarating."
~Jill Cohen

Two Lemons-Still Life Oil Painting of Two Lemons on Decorative Designed Fabric by Marina Petro

"Two Lemons"
5x7 Original Oil Painting on archival Raymar canvas panel
Purchase securely at my ETSY SHOP or email me for other purchasing options.

The picture here looks a bit washed out to me as I am posting. The colors in this painting are quite vibrant. I've done another painting of lemons and limes on this fabric and will probably use it again and again with different views of the design.

Today's Quotation: In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins; not through strength, but through persistence.

Lemons On Persimmon-Stilll Life Oil Painting of Lemons and Floral Print Design by Marina Petro

SOLD
"Lemons On Persimmon"
6x6 inches
Original oil painting on archival Raymar canvas panel.

ARTIST~MARINA PETRO, SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY USA

I was so excited when I found the decorative paper the lemons are sitting on. Couldn't wait to create a painting with it.

Since I decided to paint smaller works and blog, a whole new world has opened up for me in regard to subject matter and style. I rarely painted in a realistic style or painted still life pieces back then. Most of my paintings were created spontaneously from my imagination. I still paint in that manner but my skill has improved significantly with the challenge of creating a small painting several times a week.

I'm still at work creating my Angel book. I was going to keep it confined to my angel paintings but realized I had 80 pages to fill and decided to call it "ANGELS-Guardians From Heaven And Their Habitats." I'll be including some of my celestial paintings and gardens in Eden. It's been inspiring collecting the quotations for this book...such as today's quotation. Stay tuned, it's on it's way very soon.

Visit MY WEBSITE for specials on Greeting Cards of my Angel Paintings, YouTube Videos and more!

Here is the link to my NEWSLETTER announcing my Open Studio, Sunday, Nov. 22, from 1-4 pm. You will find a beautiful healing passage by Plotinus and a resource for healing CD's.

Today's Quotation: "One regret, dear world, that I am determined not to have when I am lying on my deathbed is that I did not kiss you enough."
~Hafiz

Now isn't this a cheerful piece? I'm happy with how this painting turned out. The background is a piece of quilting fabric.

Today's Quotation: "Art is our one true global language. It knows no nation, it favors no race, and it acknowledges no class. It speaks to our need to reveal, heal, and transform. It transcends our ordinary lives and lets us imagine what is possible."

"Lemon" by Marina Petro

"Lemon"
6"x 8" original oil on canvas panel
Email me to inquire about purchasing this piece.

I was fortunate to find lemon leaves at the local supermarket florist to use in this painting. We don't have any lemon trees here in upstate NY. I've been thinking about growing a lemon and orange tree indoors so I can have the 'real thing' handy. I saw a thriving orange tree at a local Chinese restaurant...

Today's Quotation: "I don't think you can prevent an artist from being and I don't think you can cause one to be. No one knows what makes an artist." -Robert Engman
