"TROPICAL RED" is the second small 6x6 inch apple painting I created with this background fabric which I absolutely LOVE! If I allow my moderately compulsive nature to take over I would be painting a lot more of these but I am opting for variety. 

At the moment, I have a new angel painting I am working on. Stay tuned...so far I like it but that could change in a flash....

At the moment I have a 20 x 20 inch canvas with the same background fabric as in "Granny Smith" impatiently waiting on my easel to be finished. One thing or another has interfered with my time at the easel. Hoping to work on it in a little while....

This painting is one of my personal favorites...waiting to be adopted into a good home. I am very happy with how it turned out. The small pear depicted is season again but I haven't found one with a leaf attached. I will keep looking for one though. Leaves add so much more interest.

The simple pleasure of finding an apple with a leaf still attached lifts my spirit. It is like finding a small treasure. I was happy to find the fabric Ms. Apple is perched on and will most likely create a large painting using it. I'll have to find just the right models...

I really love this painting. To be fair to myself, it should be priced at least twice as much as I have it listed for at $595 and I am not shy at all about expressing this...but...the present economy is what it is...

Whew! That's all I can say.  I am so glad this ordeal is over. I didn't know what I was getting into when I chose this design but it was much more difficult than I would have imagined and feels like it took forever to complete. 

I began by painting everything but the butterfly and it's reflection. I was intimidated by those sections and very resistant. I kept losing my place and my eyes were playing tricks on me and tearing. There were times I wished there were fairies in my studio that would finish it during the night and surprise me with a fairy miracle in the morning...never happened, of course...but I wished anyway...

So that's the story of "Reflections Of A Red Butterfly"...

Can you guess what my mood was when I painted Fire Storm? Here is another high energy painting that just seemed to paint itself. The moment my brush touched the canvas, there was no hesitation at any point during the process. I love it when paintings are created with that level of spontaniety.The picture here seems to appear a little darker than the actual painting - at least on my monitor.

Below is a picture of "Tropical Apple" which has been selected to be featured in an Etsy Treasury called "An Apple A Day - It Didn't Help Eve!"...love that title...

I was shuffling my fruit 'models' around on the kitchen counter trying to decide on the composition for the next painting. When I saw this little pear appearing to look up to the larger 'guardian' apple, there was no question about what I was going to paint. I took a photo of the smaller pear to paint it all by itself at a later time...

With reference to today's quotation below...Think about this...When one is in the act of creating, and fully engaged, whether it be art, music, whatever... they are accessing one of the most powerful forces a human being can experience. I used the same fabric that the apple and pear painting in my last post was painted on....just another section of it.  I also added the polka dots just above the deep burgundy section above the red flower in the foreground. I'll probably use this fabric again. It was fairly easy. I'm liking easy a lot lately. The primary color in this painting is RED. Red is the color of energy. It denotes life force, anger, passion and sensuality, among other things.

We had our first major snow here in upstate NY. It started yesterday and ended this afternoon. We have well over a foot. Predictions are that more is coming tomorrow morning. It was very beautiful but I can do without snow very nicely. I completed a very striking sunflower painting yesterday and wanted to post it today but it was too dark to take pictures.

This was a particularly difficult painting...moreso than I had anticipated when I began. I had a lot of resistance. It sat on the easel for days in between painting sessions and took a few sessions to complete it. I'm happy with the result.

Don't you want to just bite right into this luscious apple? While I was painting it I was not happy with how the leaf was developing until I stepped back and got a bit of distance on it. At that point I left it alone. It's my favorite part of the painting now.

It's always such a joy to find fruit with their leaves still attached. It makes the painting so much more interesting. I am in a bit of a hurry right now. I've been in front of the computer too long. Just finished and published my angel book and when I previewed it online I noticed an error...ugh...Now I've got to figure out how to fix it and publish it again so I'm signing off now...

Another great fabric find here. I added the polka dots. I do enjoy the perspective of looking down on the apple. Things got a bit hectic around here and I haven't gone to the apple orchard yet to pick my apples with their leaves attached. I did visit one orchard and inquired whether they had pear trees. They did, but wouldn't let me pick any with leaves on. I didn't know this but if you pick the pears with the leaves attached (not sure if this applies to apples too) it takes a few years for the fruit to come back. Oh well...I guess I'll just have to get lucky at the local supermarkets.

Another painting on my 'fish' fabric. I think I'll paint another one on this fabric with lemons. Daily painting and being so visible on a daily basis with posting to this blog and all has been an invaluable experience. It challenges my imagination and creativity in a way that has never happened quite like this before. I don't know where it is leading, but I am grateful for the experience. Life can get pretty rough. Painting is my saving grace.

I am greatly enjoying painting fruit on decorative fabric. I'd only done this before when I was painting larger (and very few) still lives. The challenge of daily painting has stretched my creativity in ways I could not have imagined. If I hadn't made the commitment to daily (or almost) painting, and blogging, it would be VERY easy to let all life's interferences get in the way. Now it's just the big ones or bunches of little ones in any one day that prevent me from dancing with my easel...usually due to total exhaustion. It does feel like 'someone is watching' and they are...
