If I hadn't painted this, I would love to receive it as a Valentine's Day gift for the sole reason that it would be a total surprise and I probably wouldn't have ever guessed what my gift would have been.

I was in a lighthearted mood a while back when I created this painting. The inspiration for the fish came from a piece of fabric and the turtle is from my imagination. The hearts were an afterthought when I felt the painting needed more..,

The top picture is the one that is true to the actual colors. The bottom one is showing up here quite faded. I was in a lighthearted mood when I created this painting. The inspiration for the fish came from a piece of decorative fabric and the turtle is from my imagination. The hearts were an afterthought when I felt the painting needed more than the violet background. Purple/violet and red are two of my favorite colors. Hope it brings a smile to your face...

What a pleasure this was to paint! As it was developing and I began to realize it was an under sea theme, I could feel the movement of the creatures under the water as I was painting....and the little surprises like the turtles at the upper left. I sure hope some of you 'out there' who have subscribed to my posts try your hand at spontaneous, intuitive painting from your 'zone.' You will love it!

This is a painting I've posted before but thought it would be fun to debut it again so close to Valentines Day. It is one of the rare small acrylic paintings I've done. I don't particularly like acrylic but it was the better choice for this piece. Hope it brings a smile to your face!

This is a whimsical little piece I had a lot of fun painting.
Today was a busy day. I stayed home for a change. I've planned some new classes which include a day long intuitive painting workshop, "Painting From The Zone" scheduled for April 26. It is the pilot for what I hope will be an ongoing event. I photographed some new paintings, printed out a few reference photos of the countryside here, and began another "Zone Painting." I'd started a painting in class which I spent just too much time on trying to make it work. I think it's beyond repair and I finally put it aside with a sigh of relief.
