This piece was painted in one prolonged burst of energy with just a few touchups afterward ... mostly getting the paint off myself. Being a 'fire sign' astrologically, painting with hot, fiery colors is extremely exciting when I am in the midst of it. Even if my energy is low, it awakens as I paint...

It is interesting to me that fire represents both the Holy Spirit and Hell...

Now guess what my mood was when I painted this piece. It is another example of spontaneous, intuitive painting when I simply clear my mind and begin to paint with the first color that attracts me. I hope I have been inspiring some of you 'out there' to explore your creative potentials...

Painted with passion and great energy. I didn't have anything in mind when I began this painting, but I knew I wanted to use fiery, hot colors...so...I just dipped my brush in the darkest colors first and began painting around three edges and bringing the color down throughout other sections of the painting spontaneously. The next step was gradually bringing in the lighter colors and blending them into the darker sections. It is such a freeing experience to paint in this way...try it!

I love working with firey colors. I am a fire sign - Aries. This painting was especially exciting and energizing. Hope you enjoy it. I delivered paintings to Mimosa Gallery  on Beekman Street in Saratoga Springs, NY for their  "Art from the Heart for Haiti" exibit. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Clinton-Bush Fund for Haiti. Opening reception is this Saturday, Feb. 20 from 5-8 pm. Yes, I will be there...
