Another painting created spontaneously with a very free spirit. I often imagine what it might be when I am no longer in a body on this planet. Most times, I see myself as a spirit, bird's eye view, soaring above everything. I tried to fly once, when I was about 7 years old.....arms outstretched...took one huge enthusiastic leap and landed pretty hard on my belly. That was the end of my experiments with flight...

Magical Angel was created intuitively/spontaneously from my imagination. I wasn't sure what I was going to paint. I began painting the black oval shape which is now the angel's face and the painting went from there, developing into the figure with wings...so I had this painting with a blank black oval face sitting there for quite some time without a defined face. One day, feeling brave enough and determined to finish it, I took a deep breath and once again, cleared my mind as best as I could and let my intuition just take over, one stroke at a time. I am happy with the result....always a new adventure...

I began this painting with the intention of creating a celestial landscape with planets, stars, cloud formations and such. I started where the angel's head is by painting in a circular motion, thinking I was painting a planet. My brush began 'doing it's own thing' and another angel was born!

"Ascending" was quite difficult to photograph and I don't think this one does it full justice...but...what I'm seeing on my monitor is not necessarily what you are seeing.

I began this painting by just dipping my brush in the first color I was attracted to and then continuing in this manner. At one point I felt the painting was completed and put it aside for a little bit and took a break. When I came back, it looked like it needed something else. I painted the angels in a kind of exploratory way-not quite sure how they would turn out. I liked what I'd done and deemed it finished. It's always a new adventure when I paint in this manner as opposed to my still life, landscape, and more realistic pieces.

Healing Angel is another painting I didn't think was so great and sold almost immediately. Go figure. I was on a roll yesterday and the day before. I began two small paintings and put them aside because they were too wet to put the details in. In a burst of energy with the paint that was still on my palette, I painted another cosmic/celestial scene with planets, clouds, etc..,.and then started just smearing paint on another small canvas out of curiosity to see what would appear. That one is pretty messy but has some potential. I'll need to work on it when it dries. It looks like another angel or luminous figure. I'm a bit lazy about photographing/scanning of late so you'll have to wait to see them.

When I completed this painting, I realized it was the angelic 'vision' I had when I was 16 years old, while walking through Central Park, in NYC very late one night with a friend. As we were walking, something made me turn around and I saw this image floating very quickly toward me...her arm, moving in a chastising gesture, directed at me. I got so scared...  started to run...  out of the park and went home where I should have been in the first place. I'm sure she was protecting me...

It will be a while until we see any scene like this here in upstate New York. Here is another piece, painted spontaneously with no reference other than my brain and spirit. Ordinarily I would define more of the floral areas, but I decided to just leave it alone. What I've found, ironically..... the paintings I criticize the most are the first to sell...
