"Healing Light" is another painting created spontaneously from my very very active creative imagination. As with most of my abstract and dreamy/spiritual type paintings, I begin by dipping my brush into the first color that attracts me and begin to paint...and on and on like that until a finished painting emerges.

I consider this painting "Healing Art".....How do you feel when you view it?

The last two postings of lily pond paintings had a meditative, calming quality.  This one speaks more to  energy, growth, lifting of the mood. The red and bright open yellow flowers are one contributing factor to this difference, as is the general direction of the main part of the painting...it is more vertical than horizontal. Yellow is the color of happiness, joy, clear thinking, the intellect. Red is the color of life force, energy, passion, excitability. It is a color of action. 

I began this painting outdoors in the summer along the side of the road and finished it from memory in my studio. 

I couldn't resist posting the two very different perspectives in the flower quotes below. Who would have known Georgia O'Keefe hated flowers?

I don't know about anyone else, but when I view this painting I am flooded with a feeling of serenity, as I am with most of the garden paintings I do. I wish I was there bathing in the warm light. We had snow flurries in upstate NY today...ugh...another chilly raw and windy day. Very draining.

I am in the northern Tundra today. We've had yet another 6 inches of snow and it's gotten cold and predictions are that it will be getting colder. Wish I could be among the warmth of this little garden right now. "Garden" flowed fairly smoothly. This is the first tiny garden painting I've done but there will be more to come.

The group show opening last night at Mimosa Gallery was quite successful. A fairly good sized crowd attended, despite the shuddering cold and predictions of more snow.

I've been working on this painting from my imagination and am experiencing some resistance getting back to complete it. This does happen on occasion. I tend to gravitate to painting gardens with this theme. I suppose I'll continue to paint them until they are out of my system... or whatever...if ever. At times, they just seem to flow off my brush. Not this time though. I've wanted to begin another painting from "the zone" but I think I need to discipline myself and finish what I've already started.
