I began painting this scene during a plein air (outdoor painting) excursion with a friend in Salem, New York. I'd listed it at my Etsy shop at one point with the title "Salem Skies" when I felt it was finished. After a short time, I was not satisfied with it and continued to work on it some more. I added the water from imagination. It was not present in the actual landscape.....creative license...I'm happy with it now.
What intrigues me about this painting is the darker shape at the very top above the clouds which appears to be a large dark bird....has to be seen in the original at a distance...
