This is my final contribution for Valentines Day. At the moment, I am listening to John Lee Hooker singing "I'm Bad Like Jessie James"....a sheer coincidence that this song came on as I was posting "Bad Boy Garfield." What a riot! John Lee sounds really, really bad...badder than Garfield...

Thought I'd give you a smile with this painting but I am the one laughing right now...love these synchronistic events....

Garfield was one of my late mother's favorite cartoon characters. She also loved owls and had a small collection of owl knick knacks and Garfield toys. I keep one of her small stuffed Garfields on the dashboard in my car. This particular Garfield is a small wind-up toy that rocks back and forth when you wind him up. Hope this bring a smile...

A little humor for today. Garfield and friend belonged to my beautiful mother who is no longer with us. I miss her a lot. She loved Garfield and had a collection of Garfield toys, including a small stuffed one that graces the windshield of my car. I feel it is my mother looking out and protecting me. The one pictured in today's painting is a small wind up toy that rocks back and forth. It's hilarious...for me anyway...Hope you get a smile out of this...

I must say this is one of my favorites. It's really pretty neat when your own artwork fascinates and surprises you. It is the element of discovery that makes painting in this spontaneous/intuitive fashion so satisfying. That's why I continue to encourage just picking up a paintbrush and beginning to paint from your "Zone." Simply begin to paint...one color after the next, as your spirit moves you. Don't bother mixing colors, just apply them in their pure state. You never know what you will discover.

Whew...I finished this in time for Valentines Day. It took longer to complete than I'd anticipated. This is my second Garfield painting. I've posted both here today. Garfield was one of my late mother's favorite cartoon characters. She also loved owls and had a small collection of owl knick knacks and Garfield toys. I keep one of her small stuffed Garfields in my car. Mom died in November of 2002.This particular Garfield is a small wind-up toy that rocks back and forth when you wind him up. I was 'fooling around' with the owl and Garfield trying to find a composition for a painting when they struck this pose and I had to paint it...I hope you get a chuckle out of it...
