"A Garden In Eden"
"A GARDEN IN EDEN"
5x7 inch
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas painted on all sides
Sold
I love it when a painting just seems to flow through me and create itself. That was the case with "A Garden In Eden." I wish I could transport myself right into the painting. For now, I'll just pretend I'm there. I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I did painting it.
Daily Quotation: "Do not ask the Lord to guide your footsteps, if you are not willing to move your feet."

"SUNFLOWER GARDEN" By Marina Petro
"Sunflower Garden"
The original 'Sunflower Garden' is 24 x 36 inches and has found a good home. The inspiration for this painting was from a photograph. As usual, it turned out to be completed partially from the photo and the rest from my imagination. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers. I always have them in my garden. This year's crop was food for critters so I don't have as many as I usually do. I even love seeing them in the garden, drooped over, when we are icebound here in the northeast...there's just something about them. Of all God's floral creations, the sunflower (to me at least) seems to have a personality.
This image is available in a frameable deckeled edge greeting card w/envelope, printed on heavyweight watercolor paper. $6.50 includes shipping. Email me to purchase.
Also available in a 16x20 double matted version.
You can see how lovely it looks framed in the photo above.
Purchase here for $35 + shipping at my ebay store
Daily Quotation: "Bring me then the plant that points to those bright Lucidites swirling up from the earth. And life itself exhaling that central breath! Bring me the sunflower crazed with the love of light"

"POPPY PATCH" by Marina Petro
"Poppy Patch"
22x28 oil on canvas
email me to purchase-link is below
This painting was done partially plein air and completed from memory and imagination. It was inspired by a scene along RT 372 near Cambridge, NY. I took an early morning drive along this same road the other morning. I was intending to snap some photos of the beautiful countryside. I got a few but some of the best scenes were almost impossible to take because the two lane road was so narrow and it wouldn't have been safe with cars coming in both directions.
Daily Quotation: "The imagination is a powerful tool. An artist can use it to show others the world as he sees it and to bring others into his dream of what the world could be."

Well folks, right now I'm listening to "Bo Diddley" from my iTunes library as I'm writing - keeps me moving and my energy way up. I spent the morning at the Apple Computer Store again. It was supposed to be an hour training session to set up a new database that ended up 2 1/2 hours because of a glitch...one of many lately that have interfered with my time at the easel.
Oops...the music just changed to "Proud Mary."
I painted "Mischievous Angel" from my imagination a while back. It is a fun painting. I love the expression in the kitty's eyes.
I keep hearing about how important it is for an artist to develop a certain recognizable style. I have quite a few styles and cannot see myself settling into one. I am too curious about the possibilities I have yet to explore with my painting...and... little control over the inspirations that just continue to pour in...
What do you think about this? You can leave comments at my blog if you're inclined to do so...
Thanks for looking...

"MIDSUMMER" by Marina Petro
"Midsummer"
16x20
Oil on Canvas
email me for details and to purchase
This painting was catalyzed by a photo I saw in a gardening magazine. You wouldn't know it was the same picture though. The original photo had two trees, both with leaves. I added the flowers. I feel happy whenever I see it. Right now it is available as the original but I will be making prints and giclees on canvas shortly.
Today's daily quotation is from the book "The War Of Art" by Steven Pressfield. It is one of my favorites. I highly recommend it to everyone involved in any creative venture.
Daily Quotation: "Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would not otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have dreamed would come his way. I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets: "Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic, and power in it. Begin it now"

"THE GUARDIAN" by Marina Petro
"The Guardian"
Available in several formats...see below.
I've been a bit under the weather this past week, haven't painted...and not very happy about it. Hopefully, I'll get back in the groove sometime this week but I wanted to stay in touch so I'll be posting works I've completed in the past.
The original "Guardian" is an oil on 22 x 28 inch canvas which has been sold. This was one of my delightful 'accidents.' I began painting a horizontal landscape which got very messy. I turned the canvas around and around and ended up 'fooling around' in the vertical position. Voila! All of a sudden an angel appeared and here she is.
Double matted prints, 8x10 and 16x20 are available. This image is also available as a giclee print on stretched canvas by special order and a greeting card. Email me for more details.
Daily Quotation: (This quotation is really one of my laments...and for me it includes the 'inner eye')

"SUNFLOWER STILL LIFE" by Marina Petro
"Sunflower Still Life"
16x20 inches
Oil on Stretched Canvas
Email me for details and to purchase
Here is another painting I completed a while back. It's been difficult to paint and post a small daily painting this week for a variety of annoying reasons. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers. They evoke a feeling of happiness and joy within me. I always have a variety of them in my garden each year...rabbits got most of them this year, along with my giant zinnias. I'm going to try to find some already started to fill in. I'll be posting pictures of my garden when it is more developed.
