I found this delightful little bosc pear sitting outside a market in Albany, NY. What a feat it was to bring it home with the leaves intact. Hope I get this lucky again. To date, I haven't found another pear with such a long stem and leaves attached. The local orchard would not allow me to pick any of their pears. They said if you pick them with the leaves, it will take several years to produce another pear. I guess they must sell all their pears. I only asked for a couple.
The picture here does not do it justice. it was quite difficult to photograph (not sure why).
I am participating in an exhibit of small paintings at Mimosa Gallery's second annual group exhibit 10x10=100 in Saratoga Springs, NY. All paintings are 10x10 inches or less and sell for no more than $100. The opening reception is this Saturday, January 9, from 5-8pm.
